Realise Launches the Progressive Managers' NetworkThe Progressive Managers Network is for managers who are looking to develop their own management practice and make themselves and their organisations more effective. The Network blends training, online forums and informal discussion groups to help managers to learn, experiment and improve their performance as a manager. The network is led by Mike Chitty – an experienced trainer, coach and consultant. Mike is a Graduate of Common Purpose Leeds matrix programme, 2006 - a leadership programme designed to give participants the skills, connections and vision they need to lead most effectively, both at work and in the wider world. Why Progressive Managers?Progressive (n) - A person who actively favours or strives for progress toward better conditions, as in society, organisation or government.
By forming a network of managers who share these values, fuelling them with excellent development and learning, and connecting them to like minded local managers, we will develop a powerful ‘engine for change’ for in the community. You can find out more about the network - including how to join - here. As part of Realise Development’s commitment to the importance of being more socially responsible as an organisation, we have taken our first steps to fulfilling this promise by measuring and offsetting our CO2 emissions through The CarbonNeutral Company. By offsetting our CO2 emissions using The CarbonNeutral Company’s website, we have “neutralised” the contribution our business makes to global warming in order to take responsibility for our climate change impact and to try to make the world we live in a more environmentally friendly one. Carbon emissions are one of the greatest contributors to global warming and we all produce them through everything we do from small things like boiling the kettle or listening to the radio, to driving a car. As a small business we don’t contribute that much in carbon emissions but we can neutralise those that we do; every step we take makes a difference. Future Forests offer a range of solutions to make companies Carbon Neutral by calculating each company’s CO2 emissions through the amount of gas, electric consumption they use and how much employees travel by car and train. Once your CO2 emissions are calculated you can choose whether to neutralise them by tree planting or supporting “green” energy projects in developing countries. We decided that the “green” energy projects looked a lot more worthwhile as they were not only environmentally friendly but were helping to improve the economies of developing countries. The project we selected is an energy efficiency project in Jamaica that supplies energy efficient light bulbs primarily to the tourist industry. If you want to find out more about this project click here Here at Realise we are excited to be part of this scheme and also hope that this is the first of many such projects we are involved in.
